A former Snap AR designer's viral tweet sparks a unique partnership with dbrand, resulting in the creation of Aperture, a distinctive Apple Vision Pro cover.
A viral tweet from last year has turned into a million-dollar product. Kyle Goodrich , a former AR designer at Snap, shared an image of his Apple Vision Pro cover prototype on Twitter. The post gained traction due to its unique design and the excitement surrounding Apple's newly released spatial computer. Unlike other protective cover s, Goodrich's design doesn't obstruct any of the Apple Vision Pro 's sensors, allowing users to maintain full functionality even with the cover on.
Goodrich partnered with dbrand to bring his vision to life, resulting in the creation of Aperture, a distinctive Apple Vision Pro cover. This journey took almost a year, involving 1180 holes, 91 prototypes, 13 tooling modes, and two colorways. Each hole in the cover is meticulously sculpted to ensure complete functionality while providing ample protection against bumps and scratches. dbrand claims that the cover's unibody construction, made from a single-shot injection of high-durometer polyurethane, offers robust protection for the Apple Vision Pro.This collaboration between Goodrich and dbrand is considered unprecedented. In recognition of this unique partnership, dbrand decided to deboss Goodrich's signature on each unit produced. In addition to the Apple Vision Pro face cover, dbrand offers an optional battery holster with a built-in clip designed to prevent accidental battery ejection when standing up while tethered. The Apple Vision Pro face cover alone costs $49, while the bundle with the battery holster is priced at $69. Sales are set to commence on February 7th
