Designer Zaniz Jakubowski takes us on a tour of the groundbreaking 108m superyacht Luminosity

“A huge element of the brief was connectivity to the sea and light – the owner wanted to be surrounded by light,” Zaniz says. “Since it was designed from the inside out, the GA guided me on how the outside would form because if I had to walk in light, why on Earth would I walk down the middle of a boat?”

The backdrop to this impressive entrance is a high-tech interactive forest wall which has built-in sensors enabling ‘butterflies’ to follow you while the trees and leaves move and sway as you pass by. This isn’t the only example of cutting-edge technology that’s been incorporated into the yacht’s design. “I also designed an interactive art piece in the main saloon called 264 Flowers in Motion. It's based on the Magnolia Flower,” Zaniz says.

Each space was designed to be flexible in order to be used for a variety of functions, by a variety of different people. She explains: “The Beach Club, for example, had to have a swimming pool, a gym, a cinema, a dining area and a bar area. It had to work for children and for adults. It had to be able to be closed off from a security point of view from the rest of the boat, yet it had to have open platforms to sunbathe on.
