Deer Park’s Football Festival gets all in the spirit of a new season

Spin the wheel and there was all kinds of free stuff being given away at the Raising Cane's Chicken Fingers booth Saturday night. At Deer Park High School’s annual Football Festival/Meet the Team Saturday night, fans young and old were definitely bringing “good times and your laughter too” to the three-hour event.

It’s unlikely Principal Scott Davis got in the dunking booth, situated at the north end of the stadium, but plenty of others did. That and the bounce houses were again a hit with the kids. Deer Park quarterbacks coach Ryan Hrncir was seen next to one of the bounce houses, trying to coax someone to come down the slide.

Football games on the scoreboard side of Abshier featured a continous flow of challenge-takers who felt they threw a better spiral than one of the high school players or could set some sort of record while competing on an obstacle course, it was all a great way to celebrate Deer Park’s small town feel in a big way.

It didn’t take long for the bid written down on paper to go from a dollar amount of $50 or less to a bid in excess of $100.
