Seen it, been it.
“It’s crazy because we just have that connection,” Greene said. “I can look to her and she can look to me when things aren’t going well and we know everything will be OK. We’ve been through everything together. It’s been super fun.” The Lions have swept four of their five playoff matchups, a far cry from that 2019 season where they started with six consecutive losses.
It’s been full circle for Woods and Greene. They vividly remember their first varsity playoff game against Brenham their sophomore year.“We got whooped,” Greene said.And now? The Lions swept Brenham in last weekend’s regional final, 25-16, 25-18, 25-16, to book their ticket to state, authoring another chapter of a storybook season for a program that had never been beyond the regional quarterfinals before this year.
The hitter and setter need to be on the same page. It was a boon to the Lions that they just so happened to have two really good friends at those positions, expediting development and growth.
