The 18-year-old is out to prove she is one of the best fighters in the world at the ONE Fight Night 14 event.
“The first time I saw it, I was a bit scared. But I thought it was inspiring and fun as well. And winning also looked fun,” she said.As luck would have it, Sundell’s parents had to move to Thailand for work when she was 12 years old.
The Combat sports world is littered with stories of fighters who got their first taste of competition and were hooked on the rush that comes with a real fight.“After my first fight, I was okay because I won, but I still didn’t really like it. It took three fights to figure out that I was good at it, and [that] I wanted to continue. I liked training, but fighting at the beginning was not my plan, and I did not like it,” she said.
Inspired by ONE megastar Stamp Fairtex, Sundell and her father headed north to Pattaya to check out the star-studded Fairtex Training Center in 2019. Her promotional bow was so impressive that she was booked opposite American star Jackie Buntan just two months later for the inaugural ONE strawweight Muay Thai world title.
