Midkiff said he and his daughter, Caitlyn, were sitting in their kitchen when "all of a sudden the floor fell out from under me and the back of the house went...that's when it hit the tree and everything in the kitchen hit me in the face and it was like being in a washing machine.""Stuff kept hitting my head and it was like squeezing it and pushing it and I thought I was going to feel my head get crushed," Caitlyn said.
"Six broken bones in my spine, 11 fractured ribs, a broken shoulder, a dislocated scapula and two punctured lungs," Saunders said. "The first half of those hours I was begging God to not let me take another breath because the pain was too intense — I didn't want to live through one more breath, it was too painful."Their homes slid off the mountainside just minutes apart.
After Tyson rescued him from being stuck in a tree and a river of mud with carabiners, Saunders said he stayed in Tyson's house for 24 hours before a helicopter airlifted him to a hospital, where he spent the next nearly four weeks, and another two in rehab.
