Rochester , N.Y. — Rochester area natives Rob Ziegler and William Chase shared their experiences of Hurricane Helene , which made landfall Thursday evening on Florida 's Gulf Coast."The rain was coming either straight down, said Ziegler. "Sideways, all kinds of different directions, heavy, heavy thunderstorms.
"Still some debris," said Chase. "You know, on people's yards, stuff like that. But we didn't really deal with the mass flooding.""It wasn't as bad here as it was very much on the coast," said Chase. "Not through Tallahassee and of the panhandle, Big Bend area of Florida, because they really got hit from what I'm seeing..."
Helene is the eighth named storm of the Atlantic Hurricane Season, which lasts until the end of November. At least 45 people have died across five states.
