Some of this year’s ForbesUnder30 Asia honorees in the Retail & E-commerce category are banking on growing need and demand for certain products and re-inventing the retail experience
Prior to the coronavirus outbreak, China’s pet market was expected to almost triple to 472 billion yuan by 2023 from 172 billion yuan in 2018, thanks to owners who lavish attention and money on their cats and dogs, according to consultancy Frost & Sullivan. “China’s situation is different from other markets,” says Li. “[Pet owners] are mostly the only child in their families. They don’t have brothers and sisters and they live alone in a big city, so they need emotional outlet and support.
Li met Kng while students at New York’s Fashion Institute of Technology. Li and Kng set up Vetreska as a small design studio in their senior year, and took on freelance jobs such as package designing for U.S. pet food companies.
