Elite athletes Naomi Osaka, Gabby Douglas, Suni Lee & Amber Glenn talk about their muscle recovery routines & products. They talk about cold plunges, Theragun, meditation & more.

I keep the Mini Theragun in my gym bag and use it throughout practice or after competitions. It really helps break up knots and releases a lot of tension. Cupping is good for muscle recovery, and combines heat and vibration for instant relief. Mind recovery is something we should never forget about. I love using the Calm app for daily meditations, especially before and after competitions. It puts me in the best headspaceOnce a week, I try to sauna and cold plunge.

A proper foot care routine is truly essential to me and allows me to look and feel my best — especially because my feet also end up on camera.Taking care of my body is essential. In terms of recovery routine, cryotherapy, acupuncture and icing have been key to staying healthy this season.I’m thrilled to be training again but as gymnasts, we put our bodies through a lot, so recovery is essential.

For years I relied on an old fashioned Dr. Teal’s hot epsom salt bath with some stretching after but as I’ve advanced as an athlete so has my recovery.A very important thing for me is to make sure I rehydrate myself and have some type of protein intake. I then make sure to include some light stretches before moving onto my next task of the day. I also participate in physical therapy twice a week at the/Paralympic training center in Colorado Springs.
