An Evangelical church in Newark connected the councilwoman to her alleged killer, authorities said.
Rashid Ali Bynum, 28, of Portsmouth, Virginia was arrested Tuesday morning outside a home in Chesapeake City, Virginia and charged with murder and weapons-related offenses, according to Middlesex County Prosecutor Yolanda Ciccone.and Dwumfour, she did say Bynum had been in the councilwoman’s phone contacts, and was listed under the acronym “FCF,” which she said stood for Fire Congress Fellowship.
And, while he said Dwumfour was a member of the church during the time period Bynum was there, he didn’t know of any relationship between the two. Somewhere around 2016, the church was preparing a program for the visit of its Nigerian leader. “ wanted to do a rap for one of the segments,” Adubasim said. Adubasim wasn’t sure why, but he confirmed that Bynum never did perform.
Dwumfour was found shot multiple times at about 7:30 p.m. on February 1 in the Camelot at LaMer townhome complex in the Parlin section of Sayreville, authorities said. She was pronounced dead at the scene. He approached her to tell her she was pretty, he has said. They had recently got married and had plans to reunite either in Nigeria or the United States.when he has spoken about Dwumfour’s death.
