Helmke’s mammoth effort saw him complete 3206 of the horizontal horrors – an average of more than 53 a minute – to claim the male world record.After three years of training, his attempt took place at his old powerlifting gym in Albion in November, but only now has it been approved and announced by Guinness World Records.Helmke’s goal was to complete 26 push-ups in each 30-second set, which he slightly exceeded with an average of 26.7 per set.
The 33-year-old chose November 11 for his record attempt to inspire his son in the future and show him nothing is impossible.
