After failed adaptations like Death Note and Cowboy Bebop, there's no doubt that Netflix is redeeming itself thanks to One Piece's live action. While Netflix is no stranger to good adaptations like Rurouni Kenshin and Alice in Borderland, fans who doubt the platform's future in terms of live-action webtoon or anime adaptations might reconsider thanks to these upcoming series.
As webtoons and anime gain wider international popularity, more and more live-action adaptations are arriving on major streaming platforms like Netflix, proving to be even more engaging than its original series. From webtoon-based thrillers to intense battle anime, here are all the upcoming Netflix live-action webtoon and anime adaptations that viewers should keep an eye out for in the coming months. 11 All of Us Are Dead Season 2 Premiering in 2022, All of Us Are Dead quickly became one of the most popular K-dramas worldwide. Following a zombie outbreak that forced a group of students to do anything to survive, the series not only caught the attention of viewers for its excellent production and cast but also for its tragedy and budding love story. Unfortunately, although filming for the season has wrapped, All of Us Are Dead Season 2 wasn't included in Netflix's 2026 lineup, meaning fans will likely have to wait until 2027 for its release. Fans have been waiting for nearly half a decade for a continuation, and the excitement is heightened because the webtoon's story was fully adapted in the first season, meaning All of Us Are Dead Season 2 will go beyond the original ending. The second season will feature a time jump, with Nam On-jo now a college student experiencing a new outbreak. 10 Mousetrap Mousetrap is one of Netflix's upcoming thrillers with potential for greatness. Based on the webtoon Field Mouse, the series follows Moon Jae, who has lived in isolation for a decade and faces a crisis when he discovers someone has stolen his identity, forcing him to partner with the very same loan shark he's been avoiding all this time. Despite its motif based on Korean folklore that gives it a supernatural touch, Field Mouse already had a realistic art style and characters, making it easy to translate to live-action. This intense cat-and-mouse game as they search for the person responsible for stealing Moon Jae's life will not give viewers a single moment to catch their breath. 9 Bloody Smart Junji Ito's latest adaptation, following the controversial anime Uzumaki, bears the direct seal of approval from the horror master. Titled Bloody Smart, this Taiwanese live-action adaptation incorporates some of Junji Ito's most iconic works, such as"Tomie,""Slug Girl," and"Hanging Balloons," with a production supervised by the manga artist himself, who according to Elle, collaborated with character and concept design. Viewers who want to get a sneak peek at the short stories that were adapted into Bloody Smart can watch Junji Ito Maniac: Japanese Tales of the Macabre on Netflix. Although the platform hasn't revealed its release date, Bloody Smart will have 10 episodes, premiering on Netflix in 2026. While the biggest question is how the series will manage to combine some of Ito's most disturbing characters, it already promises to be quite spooky, featuring a town where a mysterious"Bloodfruit Tree" takes root and following the strange and terrifying occurrences that unfold. 8 Samurai Champloo After the poor reception of Cowboy Bebop, Samurai Champloo could be the live-action redemption for a work by Shinichiro Watanabe. From Tomorrow Studios, the same producers responsible for bringing One Piece's live-action to life, Samurai Champloo was announced in March 2026, so its release won't be anytime soon. Samurai Champloo is considered a cult anime for its groundbreaking blend of Edo-era Japan and hip hop. With thrilling action sequences and an unusual group searching for the"samurai who smells of sunflowers," Samurai Champloo, if done right, could very well become a global phenomenon on Netflix. Thankfully, it was revealed that Samurai Champloo's live-action will have the supervision of Shinichiro Watanabe. 7 Sins of Kujo Netflix has found success with legal dramas like The Lincoln Lawyer and Suits, and if they add a character with dubious morals, they could have another guaranteed hit. In Sins of Kujo, lawyer Taiza Kujo has a bad reputation for representing shady characters like gangsters, ex-convicts, and other problematic clients, but he's willing to fight for them to the bitter end. Related Every K-Drama Manhwa Adaptation Coming in 2026 & Where to Watch From dark thrillers to long-awaited sequels and emotional romances, here are all the manhwa and webtoons that will be adapted into K-dramas in 2026. Posts By Vanessa Piña Sins of Kujo realistically portrays the workings of the Japanese legal system and the criminal underworld, with numerous human stories that explore the morality and rights of those considered unacceptable by society. Sins of Kujo may blur the viewer's perspective on who is right and who is wrong, making it one of Netflix's must-see premieres for spring 2026. 6 Bet Season 2 Despite negative reviews, Bet was renewed for a second season after entering Netflix's top 10 in several countries. Its poor reception stemmed from fan disappointment with the changes made to the source material. Bet was a reinterpretation of the manga by Homura Kawamoto and illustrated by Tooru Naomura, Kakegurui, and was much less frenetic than the original. Moreover, Bet focuses more on Yumeko's revenge than on the thrill of gambling. Even so, and despite shifting the story to an international setting and introducing original characters, Bet still maintains the essence of the series, with gambling, power, and obsession being its driving force. Many viewers are eagerly awaiting Bet Season 2, which is supposedly beginning filming in summer 2026. 5 Teach You a Lesson Teach You a Lesson is a Netflix original series that has been embroiled in controversy even before its release. The original webtoon titled True Education sparked strong backlash for glorifying corporal punishment in schools and promoting harmful stereotypes. While the webtoon is still ongoing in South Korea, True Education's English-language release on Webtoon was canceled. Hwajin Na is the right man when students misbehave and refuse to follow school rules, as he is an undercover agent of the Teachers' Rights Protection Agency, whose mission is to guarantee teachers' rights and prevent endangering the educational environment. Viewers should be prepared, as Hwajin Na has no qualms about educating troublemaking students by any means necessary. 4 Last Samurai Standing Season 2 One of Netflix's live-action shows that has generated more buzz, Last Samurai Standing, has been greenlit for a second season. As the title suggests, Last Samurai Standing tells the story of a battle royale between former samurai warriors who clash in fierce combat for a life-changing fortune in a feudal Japan ravaged by poverty and disease. While there isn't much information available about the production of the second season, Last Samurai Standing's cliffhanger ending suggests that the series will include more original content. 3 Viral Hit Two years after the anime's release, Viral Hit returns in 2026 as a live-action adaptation. Although it went largely unnoticed, Viral Hit was one of the anime hidden gems of 2024, which explains the decision to adapt the story again with a Japanese production despite its origins in a South Korean manhwa.
