Frito-Lay has issued a recall for certain 13-ounce bags of Lay's Classic Potato Chips due to the potential presence of undeclared milk. Consumers with milk allergies are advised to avoid the recalled product.

Frito-Lay issued a recall on Dec. 16 for a limited number of 13-ounce bags of Lay’s Classic Potato Chips, according to an alert issued by the Food and Drug Administration. The chips were distributed to various stores and online outlets in Oregon and Washington, with customers able to buy the snacks beginning Nov. 3, 2024. Lay’s Classic Potato Chips were the only ones included in the recall. No other products, flavors, sizes or variety packs are involved.

The chips may contain undeclared milk, Frito-Lay said after being informed by a consumer. “Those with an allergy or severe sensitivity to milk run the risk of a serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume the recalled product,” the FDA says. No allergic reactions in connection to the recall have been reported. The recalled chips are in flexible 13-ounce bags with the UPC codes 28400 and 31041. Affected bags must have a “Guaranteed Fresh” date of Feb. 11, 2025 and one of the two following manufacturing codes: 6462307xx or 6463307xx. People with any recalled bag can reach out to Frito-Lay Consumer Relations at 1-800-352-4477 between 9 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. CST, Monday through Friday. Anyone who is allergic or sensitive to milk should not eat the chips and throw out any affected bags
