Frisco library staff continue prep for opening day
Shelley Holley, Frisco Public Library director, gave an update to city council Jan. 3 about progress and opening day.
“We plan to have a photo booth and puppet shows, we’ve got some book characters that will be coming,” Holley said. “We’ll have demonstrations on the new technology and a ribbon cutting. And of course once the library is open you’ll be able to meet Rexy, and she is worth meeting.”Rexy, a 26-foot-tall and 42-feet-long Tyrannosaurus rex model skeleton.
Holley said as construction continues primarily on the north half of the building, the city’s IT department is working to set up 205 computers for Wi-Fi. The library director said “the primary collection has moved over though it is not permanently shelved yet and we’re integrating the opening day collection.”
“That’s library speak for the books that were bought specifically for the library … 24,000 items that are being integrated into the existing collection,” she said..
