FRIO COUNTY, Texas - Frio County Deputies are investigating the cause of the death of a 10-month old baby girl.
According to Frio County Deputies, on June 5 they received a call from a woman who was driving to the Frio Regional Hospital with her unresponsive 10-month-old baby, Nylah Gonzales. Deputies say medical staff performed life-saving measures before airlifting Nylah to San Antonio for further treatment but she passed away from her injuries.Investigators, along with the Texas Rangers interviewed the baby's mother, Celine Torres of Kerrville and her boyfriend, Deion Salazar of Pearsall.
Upon investigation deputies uncovered over 100 grams of cocaine and other narcotics at the residence. Authorities linked the drugs to Salazar, who now faces two counts of Manufacture and Delivery of a controlled substance. He was released on bond and is currently wearing an ankle monitor. The cause of Nylah's death remains undetermined. Investigators await a meeting with the Medical Examiner for further information.
