Friends of Sally Kirkland, the prolific actress who received an Oscar nomination for her work in 1987's 'Anna,' have set up a GoFundMe campaign to raise money for 'urgent medical care' that she cannot afford.
to raise money to cover the cost of"urgent medical care" that she needs after fracturing four bones in neck, right wrist, and her left hip and developing two dangerous infections. A representative for Kirkland confirmed the legitimacy of the campaign and Kirkland's medical situation to"As the days pass, lack of proper care greatly diminishes Sally’s chance of a full recovery," Kirkland's friends wrote in the GoFundMe description.
Despite her prolific work that extends to the present day , however, Kirkland cannot afford the medical care that she requires. The actress' friends say that she lost the vast majority of her savings in the 2007 economic recession, and that a SAG-AFTRA insurance policy change that left her with "extensive out of pocket costs that have exceeded her savings and monthly pension income.
