Grief-stricken friends made their way to Hardcastle Pond to lay flowers for Clinton Ajit. It was where the 18-year-old was pulled out of the water late Friday night.
Friend Anugrah Sam and those close to Ajit gathered with family at their home in New Milford on Saturday night - his family too devastated to speak.
"We are in a moment of grief - this is a big process, especially the mother and father, they are going through a big loss," said Sam.Moments later, officers rushed to the pond after a 911 call came through about a drowning. A search began, and house later his body was recovered. "Our hearts are broken. Our community, our thoughts and prayers are with the family and also the siblings in the school district. So our town will be praying for that family," said New Milford Mayor Michael Putrino.
So many are in shock as they learned of Ajit's passing. He was a student at New Milford High school and was very well-liked. He played trombone in the school band. Now, memories are left behind while a family is left broken. Prayers are getting many through the distressing time. The Medical Examiner's Office will determine the exact cause of death.
