For your TGIF, plan on seasonable highs with more than half of us getting wet. There is 60% chance that wet weather finds you. Where it's not raining, expect partly cloudy to partly sunny skies with max temps topping out around 90. For those that don't find wet weather, heat index values will be 100+.
Scattered showers and storms stay in the forecast this Labor Day weekend with rain chances running between 30-50%. Highs will hover in the lower 90s while overnight lows hold steady in the 70s. Past Labor Day Monday, our weather pattern turns more active as a front advances our way from the north. Rain chances will rise closer to 60-70% Tuesday through Thursday. On those days, daytime highs will struggle to reach the upper 80s.
THE TROPICS: We are currently monitoring a tropical wave in the east-central Atlantic. Conditions look conducive for slow development. A tropical depression may form early next week as it heads W at 10 to 15 mph and approaches the Lesser Antilles. It's then forecast to move W to WNW across portions of the eastern and central Caribbean during the middle part of next week.
There is a another tropical wave just west of the coast of Africa that has a low chance of developing.The rip current risk is expected to be moderate through Sunday. Always check the flags before entering into Gulf waters.
