A document sent to Olentangy High School Principal Robert Griffiths indicated a Title IX allegation as the cause behind his paid administrative leave.
A memo obtained by ABC 6 shows Griffiths was put on leave because of a sexual harassment or discrimination complaint filed against him. Olentangy Schools said in the document that an attorney has been assigned to investigate the complaint.
The document says the allegations are centered on disparaging comments toward a district employee, comments mocking the efforts of the district in establishing a women's leadership program and scheduling meetings to create conflicts that would keep the complainant from participating. "The complaint alleges other aggressive behaviors and profanity directed towards Complainant that fall outside Title IX but may constitute misconduct if substantiated," the memo reads.
The district employee who filed the complaint against Griffiths said he had used disparaging profanity directed toward the complainant and others 40-50 times in her presence.Griffiths is starting his sixth year as the principal at Olentangy High School and his 22nd in the district, according to the school's website.
In a statement, the district said in a previous statement that Griffiths, "has been placed on paid administrative leave, effective Oct. 9, 2023. The district is conducting an ongoing investigation. Please be assured this situation does not concern the safety of students or affect academic integrity at OHS. Olentangy Schools is committed to our mission to facilitate maximum learning for every student. The district cannot comment further at this time.
