Friday Night Lights star Taylor Kitsch says that he's been asked to return for the new reboot series in the works at Peacock.
It was announced in 2024 that Universal Television was developing a reboot of Friday Night Lights, the acclaimed television series starring Kyle Chandler and Connie Britton that premiered in 2006 and ran for five seasons. Kitsch played Tim Riggins, a fullback who struggles with alcoholism, in the original series.
“I would come in and do something, maybe for an episode or something. But I don’t want to go and do the whole thing,” he said. Kitsch also noted that he’d be open to playing someone other than Riggins in the new series, such as “an opposing team’s coach or something.” The description of the new Friday Night Lights series reads, “Following a devastating hurricane, a rag tag high school football team and their damaged, interim coach make an unlikely bid for a Texas High School State Championship becoming a beacon of light for their town.”Jason Katims, who served as the showrunner for the original Friday Night Lights, is returning for the reboot.
