Anadolu Agency photojournalist Mustafa Yalcin sustains injury after a tear gas canister fired by the French police hit his eye as he was covering protests against President Emmanuel Macron's pension reform plans

Employees of national carrier Air France, state-owned Parisian public transport operator RATP, electricity company EDF that is largely owned by the government, state-owned national railway firm SNCF, and automobile manufacturer Renault have joined the protest.

The walkout came after the government announced its determination to implement pension reform despite the nationwide outcry. Security forces take protesters into custody during a general strike over French government's plan to overhaul the country's retirement system, in Paris, France on December 05, 2019. France currently has 42 different pension programs for different sectors but the government proposed to unify those systems into one pension scheme.
