Shares of French cognac makers rallied on Tuesday after France's Macron indicated that trade tensions between the EU and China about cognac imports may ease.
Shares of several French cognac makers, including Pernod Ricard and Remy Cointreau, rallied on Tuesday.
Earlier this year, China launched an anti-dumping probe into EU cognac makers, which could lead to tariffs being imposed on imports of the spirit. France's Macron on Monday addressed the ongoing trade dispute with Chinese President Xi Jinping and gifted him a top-range bottle of French cognac which reportedly retails at over $3,200. Xi is currently visiting Europe and meeting leaders across the continent.
