Fremont man charged with chasing down victim with large rock, stabbing him to death

Police say the victim’s identification is a mystery and that he’s referred to in court papers as “John Doe.”

FREMONT — A 40-year-old man has been charged with murder in connection with a Feb. 16 stabbing where the victim was seen running frantically away from the suspect, police say.

The identity of Moses’ victim, for now, remains a mystery. The charging documents accuse Moses of murdering “John Doe,” in lieu of the victim’s actual name. “Moses then repeatedly stabbed the victim until a bystander interjected and was able to disarm Moses with patrol officers arriving shortly after and detaining Moses,” Fremont police Det. Brent Butcher wrote in a probable cause statement filed in court.
