A strong cold front is moving through North and Central Texas, bringing freezing temperatures and the possibility of winter precipitation. The National Weather Service has increased its confidence that there will be some form of winter precipitation between Wednesday and next week, with the highest chance of travel impacts in Central Texas.

Lows will be below freezing, likely in the 20s, and morning wind chills could drop those feel-like temperatures into the teens or even single digits along the Red River.

The strong cold front pushing through North and Central Texas will bring breezy conditions, with winds speeding up to 15 to 20 mph with 30 mph gusts.The weather service advised Friday that it’s confidence has increased that there could be potential for winter precipitation sometime between Wednesday and the end of next week. The highest potential for travel impacts is across Central Texas with a 30% chance. North Texas is currently at 10%. “We still are uncertain what type, if any, precipitation will occur, as well as the extent and duration of any travel impacts,” the weather service forecast said.Partly to mostly cloudy with a 20% chance of showers early, then much colder by afternoon. Morning high in the 60s, then 40s by afternoon.
