A near-stationary cold front is expected to lock in high temperatures in the 30s close to the Wisconsin border and spring-like highs in 50s along the Interstate 80 corridor, meteorologist Casey Sullivan said.
A drive across Illinois might feel like a wormhole across seasons Tuesday, National Weather Service forecasters said.
Drizzle also is expected across the Chicago metropolitan area Monday evening, ramping up to “heavy downpours” overnight, according to a National Weather Service tweet. In the far north suburbs, precipitation could fall as freezing rain and lead to icy conditions, forecasters said.
