Free State police found the bodies of a man and his wife in a pool of blood in their house, following a hostage situation that lasted over 12 hours.
The couple's children, aged 3 and 7, were not harmed in the incident, as police had managed to get them out of the house before the shooting started.
He said they arrived at the house after 18:00 and found that the 57-year-old man had locked himself in the house together with his 43-year-old wife and their children. The SA Police Service bought it with money from their coffers and took it to him.
According to Kareli, the husband had one gunshot wound while the wife had two. Police discovered that the gun belonged to the man.
