Slab Cinema will present 1997 biopic starring Jennifer Lopez on Sunday at Pearl.
The movie, which stars Jennifer Lopez and Edward James Olmos, will be shown at 1100 Springs Plaza, the newish public space in front of the Full Goods Building. It will start 15 minutes after sunset, about 8 p.m.Alamo Drafthouse Park North, 618 NW Loop 410, will be hosting a sing-along “Selena”Selena was born April 16, 1971, at Freeport Community Hospital near her family's home in Lake Jackson.
Outside of South Texas and other Tejano strongholds, “Selena” introduced this story to much of the country and added the phrase “Anything for Salinas” to the lexicon. “Selena” opened on March 21, 1997, less than two years after Selena Quintanilla Pérez’s death on March 31, 1995. It opened in second place at the box office behind the Jim Carrey comedy “Liar Liar” and ultimately earned more than $35 million.
