The Fredericksburg City Council denied DC Partner’s zoning change request for a proposed for mixed-use project on 22 acres at the end of Main Street.

A divided Fredericksburg City Council on Tuesday rejected a zoning change that would have allowed a developer to build condominiums and more hotel rooms as part of a proposed mixed-use development downtown.

-acre development with Salt Lick location, restaurants, shops coming to Fredericksburg DC Partners and another firm responded in 2022 and sought tax rebates for their projects, but council members voted against providing that, city staff said. DC Partners proceeded anyway. The firm revised its plan after pushback from zoning commissioners and residents, which included removing an apartment complex and scaling back the retail and meeting space.
