Jordaan and his two co-accused are accused of defrauding SAFA of R1.3 million between 2017 and 2019.
JOHANNESBURG - The fraud-accused president of the South African Football Association , Danny Jordaan, has made his first court appearance.
Jordaan appeared at Specialised Commercial Crimes Court sitting in Palm Ridge on Wednesday afternoon. His two co-accused are SAFA chief financial officer, Gronie Hluyo, and businessman, Trevor Neethling.The State alleges that Jordaan used the organisation’s resources for his personal gain, including hiring a communications company to clean up his public image.
State prosector Moagi Malebati:"During the periods of July and October 2019, when accused four was paid a total amount of R345,000 without any contractual agreement with SAFA and with no services rendered by accused number four to SAFA." Victor Nkwashu, Danny Jordaan’s legal representative, said his client was first made aware of this case in May 2020. TCGIn his affidavit, Danny Jordaan said he doesn’t have any prior convictions or any pending cases against him . TCGIn his affidavit, Trevor Neethling, Director of Grit Communications, said him and his company are collateral damage of in-fighting within SAFA ahead of the football organisation’s elective conference.
