Frankie Dettori has claimed a fairytale victory in the Gold Cup in a fitting farewell to his Royal Ascot career.Dettori celebrates as he rides Courage Mon Ami to victory In The Gold CupRiding at Royal Ascot for the final time before his retirement at the end of the year, Dettori stormed to victory in the flagship race.
Courage Mon Ami was having only his fourth lifetime start, having won his three previous races for John and Thady Gosden. But Dettori took a risk and waited on the rail before sweeping through beaten horses and switching outside Coltrane's withers.
