Frank Smoll, Ph.D., is a sport psychologist at the University of Washington. He specializes in the psychological effects of competition on children and youth.

He published more than 145 scientific articles and book chapters, and he is author/co-author of 23 books and manuals on children’s athletics. Professor Smoll is a fellow of the American Psychological Association, the Association for Applied Sport Psychology , and the National Academy of Kinesiology. He is a Certified Mental Performance Consultant and was the recipient of AASP’s Distinguished Professional Practice Award.
