France bans gatherings of more than 1,000 to curb virus

FRANCE has banned gatherings of more than 1,000 people to try and slow the spread of Covid-19, said the health minister, while the number of lawmakers infected rises to four. Oliver Veran confirmed the beefed-up measures yesterday, but said officials will issue a list of events considered “useful to national life” that will be allowed to continue – such as demonstrations.
