The first letter we reported on is a 'formal notice and warning' letter sent to someone suspected of uploading child pornography. The second letter serves as a 'notification and educational' letter addressed to a parent.
) - A FOX10 investigation has uncovered a second controversial letter sent out by the Mobile County Sheriff’s Office ICAC unit. It’s addressed to a parent or guardian and refers to a cyber tip report that shows an online account associated with the household was involved in uploading content classified as child pornography.
The letter goes on to say detectives were unable to identify who uploaded the files, so the letter serves only as a notification and educational outreach to ensure the parent was aware of the reported activity and the importance of addressing online safety within the household.“I was like, I know that’s not true because her accounts are hooked up to my phone so I see everything,” she said. “It was like a bunch of kids just posting stuff in a group chat, but it wasn’t specifically my daughter. It was just like normal teenage stuff. But I never seen nothing like provocative in that group chat.” The letter says the date of occurrence was July 9, 2025, and according to the mother, her daughter’s Instagram account was disabled the next day.“I’ve been trying to call the sheriff’s office and it’s like, don’t nobody want to say anything about it,” the mother said. The first letter we reported on shows it was sent to someone suspected of uploading child pornography. In that letter, it explains while this conduct is illegal and can result in arrest and prosecution, investigators have decided to issue a warning. Sheriff Paul Burch said on a radio show, the first letter was sent out because the statute of limitations ran out.“They’ve only sent out a couple of those letters, thankfully. It will not happen again,” Burch said. A spokesperson tells us the final report for their internal investigation into these letters should be finished next week and the sheriff will speak to us once it’s complete.MCSO: Mother, stepfather moved to Florida, left child to live alone with animals and filth in AlabamaMassive great white shark tracked near Dauphin Island Verizon says outage that disrupted calling and data services for hours has been resolved, offers credit for customers
