Colin Cowherd's halftime take got exposed by Penn State's comeback win at USC.
Cowherd, the FOX Sports personality, took to social media at halftime of Saturday’s clash between USC and Penn State. Cowherd praised Lincoln Riley and the Trojans and implied that Penn State and other Big Ten schools might struggle to win on the West Coast.
Cowherd was featured in a video on the Los Angeles Memorial Stadium video board promoting USC’s name, image and likeness efforts. So maybe it’s not a surprise to see him pump up Riley and the Trojans to his 1,600,000 followers on X. But James Franklin and the Nittany Lions were just fine. Penn State beat USC, 33-30, in overtime at the Coliseum, overcoming a 20-6 halftime deficit.“Some of you guys are going to owe Lincoln Riley an apology,” Cowherd said in a video posted to X. “I don’t know if some of these Big Ten teams can handle coming out west. The sunshine, the distractions of L.A., probably not. Look at the halftime score. I don’t hold grudges. Apologies accepted.
Understandably, Cowherd was roasted for his early praise of Riley and the Trojans by his peers and others across the sports media landscape.
