Sexual assault and assault charges have been laid against a 74-year-old man — the fourth person charged in connection with alleged abuses at a private Christian school in Saskatoon. yxe

, including the Government of Saskatchewan, have been named. The allegations have not been tested in court.

The person who came forward to police in connection with the charges announced Tuesday said many of their interactions with the 74 year old were in his capacity as a church elder, between 1987 and 1993. The former student, who is also a plaintiff in the class action, attended Christian Centre Academy between 1988 and 1992 for Kindergarten through Grade 2. They say the interactions were in an office and in the man’s home when the man and his wife babysat them a few times.Article content

“A big part of me had always at least subconsciously believed that what went on at the church, it was just me. And when I found out that there were other people telling their stories, I connected with Caitlin over social media and I decided it was time for me to speak up at least for the sake of my own healing,” they said.

“That does obviously clearly mean I’m being taken seriously on this issue and possibly will encourage anyone else who may be kind of holding on to anything involving him to also come forward,” they said.Article content
