Deon Fourie reckons fellow loose forward Evan Roos shouldn’t give up hope of playing at the World Cup after not being chosen by the Springboks to defend the Webb Ellis Cup.

Roos was one of those players who didn’t make the cut for the 33-man Bok squad, although has been included on a nine-player standby list for the sport’s global showpiece.

Many have likened Fourie’s role for the Boks at this year’s World Cup to that which Schalk Brits played in Japan in 2019, as more of a mentor and off-field ‘cheerleader’, but the former Grenoble flanker is eager to carve his own path.
