Kings point guard De'Aaron Fox started the game drawing Haliburton's defensive assignment, but Haliburton said things got even more difficult when former Baylor star Davion Mitchell came off the bench and started taking him on. "I myself felt like I was getting fouled a little bit," Haliburton said."I think that's what led to the frustration of a tech. I think that kind of changed the momentum of the game right there. I gotta be better there, more composed through that. I felt like I should have gone to the free throw line more. I don't know if I went one time, did I? Zero free throws. I felt like I should have been there more.
Smith was the only real bright spot with 22 points on 8-of-10 shooting, but he was injured in the third quarter when he took an elbow to the face from guard Malik Monk. Buddy Hield scored 17 points and Bennedict Mathurin had 22, but no one else scored in double figures.
