The first of the changes will start to roll out at the start of 2025
Drivers across the UK are being urged to prepare for sweeping changes to driving rules set to roll out in the near future. The changes, announced in the Chancellor’s Autumn Budget, include increased Vehicle Excise Duty , a reclassification of double-cab pick-ups, and significant tax hikes for high-emission vehicles.
Andy Wood, International Tax Advisor at Tax Natives, has explained the changes launching in the next few months.Get ready for a shake-up in the cost of owning a vehicle. Starting April 2024, Vehicle Excise Duty is going up thanks to adjustments linked to the Retail Price Index. While first-year rates for cars are staying the same, the annual cost for most vehicles – like standard cars, vans, and motorcycles – is set to rise.
