Four more players on the Miami Marlins have tested positive for the novel coronavirus. Eleven others had been previously reported.
The Miami Marlins’ coronavirus outbreak has other leagues looking at MLB’s strategy and questioning whether their own plans are bulletproof.“You need to let the virus clear itself out of the clubhouse, because it can sometimes take a long time for the virus to show itself, on a positive test or through symptoms,” Emory University epidemologist Dr. Zachary Binney said.
“You have to wait it out. You have to assume everybody on the Marlins right now is potentially infected. The only way to get past that is time.”Since the Marlins shared the field with the Philadelphia Phillies on Sunday, the Phillies’ game against the New York Yankees on Monday was called off. The scheduled Tuesday game between the Phillies and Yankees was called off Tuesday morning, with the Yankees returning from Philadelphia to New York.
The Phillies’ initial round of expedited tests on Monday did not return any positives, the source said, and the Phillies were undergoing additional testing on Tuesday.
