Four Chilean men have been arrested and charged with burglarizing the home of Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow in Ohio. Authorities believe the suspects may be part of a larger trans-international crime ring targeting high-profile athletes.
Four men, Bastian Morales, 23, Jordan Sanchez, 22, Sergio Cabello, 38, and Alexander Chavez, 24, have been arrested in connection with a burglary at Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow 's home in Ohio last month. The four suspects, all from Chile, face multiple charges including participating in a criminal gang and possessing criminal tools according to Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost. They were apprehended on January 10th after being pulled over by police.
During the traffic stop, officers discovered punch tools, often used to break into houses, and multiple fake IDs presented by Sanchez, Morales, and Cabello. Sanchez was also found to be driving without a valid license. The only suspect with a valid driver's license was Chavez, holding a New York state license. When questioned by officers, the men claimed they were in Ohio to visit the snow. Further investigation revealed an old Louisiana State University shirt and a Bengals hat inside the vehicle, allegedly stolen from Burrow's home on December 9th, 2024. Burrow was away in Texas playing an away game against the Dallas Cowboys at the time of the break-in. This incident is part of a larger pattern of targeted burglaries at the homes of high-profile athletes. In October, the homes of Kansas City Chiefs stars Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce were both burglarized just days apart. Sources have indicated that investigators are exploring the possibility of a trans-international crime ring being responsible for these burglaries. The four suspects are currently being held on a $250,000 bond and are represented by a public defender, according to court records.
