The gardener was trimming a hedge in the 4400 block of Merced Avenue when he located four grenades hidden within the hedge.
A gardener found four grenades while working in Baldwin Park on Thursday, and now the Federal Bureau of Investigation is looking into the devices.According to Sgt. Jose Eguia from the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department's Arson Explosives Detail, the four devices discovered were Russian-styled F-1 grenades."When I took the X-rays, I saw some characteristics that concerned me of it being a live grenade," Eguia said.
"Handguns and stuff, okay First Amendment rights, I'll take all that," said Tony Shao, a nearby resident. "But grenades? I don't know how people get a hold of that."Eguia said getting a call for located grenades isn't unusual. However, they're typically found in the homes of elderly people. The sergeant admitted that the F-1 style grenades being found in a bush close to a restaurant is concerning."A hand grenade call is not a rare call," Egui said.
