The road was shut for around two hours in both directions
A small number of cows have sadly been killed during an early morning collision. Nottinghamshire Police received reports on Thursday, March 30, that a herd of cows had escaped from their field and made their way onto the A616 in Kneesall.
, and re-opened at around 7:20am. A Nottinghamshire Police spokesperson said: "We were called at 5:25 this morning. "It was a phone call to report that there was a herd of cows that were on the road. Unfortunately by the time we got the call, we shortly got another call to say that a vehicle that collided with four of the cows."
The four cows that were hit were sadly killed by the collision, but no people were injured and the other cows "were put back into the field they came from." The spokesperson added: "The road has been closed for vehicle recovery as it caused expensive damage to the car involved and to clear up the bodies of the cows.
