A spokesperson for Foundry says the decision stems from a move to focus on its core business.
Earlier reports said that Foundry had laid off 60% of its workforce, but a DCG spokesperson put that number at 16% in a statement to CoinDesk.
Digital Currency Group owned mining pool Foundry has laid off 16% of its U.S.-based employees and a "small team in India."
