David Richards took an axe, a dry suit and cable ties to his victim's home then attacked her
The man who founded stripper group Dreamboys has been jailed after trying to kill his wife with an axe. David Richards has been sentenced to 27 years behind bars after he was previously found guilty of attempted murder.
He said Richards had “tied her up briefly” during the incident but this was “ineffectual”, and that Richards “dragged her by the hair”. Essex Police said that when Richards stepped out to try and find Ms Alam’s phone, she was able to free herself, lock her doors and call for help. In her victim impact statement, read by prosecutor Mr Carter, she said her scars "are a constant reminder of what he did to me". She added: “I’ve been utterly betrayed beyond belief by the person I chose to have children with, turning my life upside down.”
