A homicide investigation was launched yesterday after a body was found in Columbia County along the side of a forest road.
Deputies were called to the area of Northeast Gum Swamp Road west of Northeast Range Road after someone reported the body around 3 p.m. Tuesday. They immediately determined foul play was suspected.
Investigators said they could not determine the age of the person because of the condition of the body, but they believe the victim is a “light-skinned male.” The body was taken to the Medical Examiner’s Office in Jacksonville to determine more about the victim’s identity and continue the homicide investigation.
