Gateway Center, built amid a climate of fear 5 years after Newark's fiery unrest of 1967, has a new street-level entrance, with plans for ground-floor shops and restaurants facing surrounding streets
into the surrounding Newark neighborhood, the owner of the massive office complex this week unveiled a street-level glass atrium and entryway in a high-profile location opposite Newark Penn Station. The two-story atrium and entrance completed by Onyx Equities of Woodbridge are at the base of OneGateway, one of four Gateway towers totaling 2.
3 million square feet. The towers are linked by an elevated walkway that has enabled commuters to wall between Penn Station and Gateway or half a century without setting foot on Newark streets or sidewalks.
