Fort Worth police were called to the 2100 block of Hurley Avenue on Aug. 24, 2020.A Fort Worth woman pleaded guilty Thursday to the slaying of her 4-year-old daughter in 2020, receiving a 50-year prison sentence, the Tarrant County criminal district attorney’s office said.
Krystal Judy Lewandowski, 36, has remained at the Tarrant County jail since she was arrested on a capital murder charge in August 2020. She pleaded guilty to the lesser charge of murder in a deal with prosecutors, according to court records.2100 block of Hurley Avenue after she called 911 and reported the girl, Czara, missing on Aug. 24, 2020, according to an arrest-warrant affidavit.
The dispatcher asked about Czara’s location and Lewandowski said she was in a trash can in the backyard, the affidavit says. A responding officer reported finding the girl’s body in a trash bag beneath two other bags in the trash can, and she was pronounced dead at the home. Lewandowski eventually told the dispatcher she’d killed the child the previous night, police said. She spoke about hurting her daughter because she was told to do so, and, in a later interview, she told a detective she had saved her daughter from a more terrible fate, according to the affidavit.
Police also said at the time that Child Protective Services removed an 18-month-old boy from the home.
