Police received multiple 911 calls around noon on Wednesday reporting a man with a firearm outside the leasing office of the Silver Leaf Villas on John T. White Road. Worried callers stated they felt unsafe, with one witness claiming the man pointed the gun directly at him. Upon arrival, officers encountered the man in the parking lot.
According to police, he drew a gun from his waistband and fled. During a foot pursuit, an officer, citing concerns for her safety and the well-being of nearby citizens, discharged her weapon several times at the suspect. However, he was not struck. The internal affairs department is currently conducting an investigation into the incident. Police have not disclosed the suspect's identity or the specific charges he will face. Authorities have not specified whether the man was targeting leasing agents or other residents, nor have they revealed any potential motives behind his actions. It remains unclear if the man resided within the apartment complex. This incident marks the second officer-involved shooting in Fort Worth within a 24-hour period.
