A Fort Worth police officer was fired after using excessive force during an arrest of a woman who was recording officers at a crash scene.

A Fort Worth police officer has been fired after injuring a woman during an arrest. Officer Matthew Krueger was one of the officers to respond to a hit-and-run crash on Foch Street at 3:26 a.m. on June 23rd. Fort Worth police say a suspected intoxicated driver crashed into another vehicle and a building before running from the scene on foot. While officers were investigating a crash, a woman approached and began to record officers with her phone.

Krueger told the woman multiple times to move across the street, so police could secure the scene, but she refused. Krueger then placed the woman under arrest.During the arrest, Krueger used force to take the woman into custody. The woman had to be taken to the hospital for treatment. The woman was later charged with interference of public duties, resisting arrest and making a false alarm or report.Fort Worth Police Major Case and Internal Affairs Units investigated the incident and Krueger was transferred to a role without interaction with the public. The investigation into the arrest determined Officer Krueger's level of force was 'unjustified' and was against department policy.Fort Worth Police Chief Neil Noakes agreed with the assessment and fired Krueger from the department.Krueger, a member of the Patrol Bureau at the time of the incident, had been with Fort Worth Police for just under eight years
