Two individuals, including the husband of a deceased Fort Campbell soldier, have been charged with murder and tampering with evidence.
Two individuals, including the husband of the victim, have been formally charged in connection with the death of a Fort Campbell soldier. Sofia Rodas, 35, faces charges of murder and tampering with evidence, while Reynaldo Salinas Cruz, 40, has been charged with tampering with evidence in the case of Pfc. Katia Dueñas-Aguilar. Cruz is the husband of the deceased soldier. Both Rodas and Cruz were already in federal custody on charges unrelated to Dueñas-Aguilar's death.
Dueñas-Aguilar, 23 years old, was discovered deceased within her Clarksville residence on May 18, 2024. She had served at Fort Campbell in Kentucky since 2019, where she worked as an information technology specialist and was a member of the 101st Airborne Division's Combat Aviation Brigade. At the time of her death, Clarksville police indicated they were treating the case as a homicide.Cruz and Rodas were indicted by the Montgomery County Grand Jury. They were transported to Clarksville on Friday and are currently detained at the Montgomery County Jail. According to a jail representative, both remained in custody as of Saturday evening. Cruz is scheduled for an arraignment on Monday, while Rodas will receive a court date within three to four weeks and be arraigned subsequently. Neither defendant has a lawyer listed, and the jail representative noted that if they lack representation, they will be assigned a public defender following their arraignments. The Clarksville Police Department stated that the investigation into Dueñas-Aguilar's death remains active and ongoing.
